In many large cities and metropolises of the world there are more and more possibilities to rent a mobile vehicle. Whether eScooter, Pedelec, bicycle, car or driving services.<\/p>\n
In Berlin for example eScooter of Circ, Lime, Tier as well as VOi are offered. Bicycles and eBikes are sometimes available from Jump, Lime, Mobike, 0bike, LidlBike, NextBike. Electric scooters from Coup and Emmy. Cars from Flinkster, DriveNow and Car2Go. But there’s also the BerlK\u00f6nig and Uber, who offer their taxi-like driving services.<\/p>\n
Today I will give you a little personal experience report on the way, concerning eScooters and eBikes. The registration and payment takes place in a few steps and simply in the app and by deposited credit card. It is still important to know that a fee of 1 Euro is charged for each provider and rental process. So always lending fee + minute price!<\/p>\n
With the small electric scooters it’s worth taking a look at the Circ and Tier. Unlike Lime or VOi only the Circ offers a smartphone holder for navigation in the city and even a USB socket to charge the same. A drinks and bag holder complete the package. When it comes to the driving experience, Circ and Tier have no reason to complain. Two brake levers on the handlebars ensure the necessary safety and the engine accelerates quickly from a standstill to 20 kilometres per hour. Only the price is a point to talk about. 15 cents per minute is a little too high for all suppliers. A car at DriveNow is already available for 30 cents and a pedelec from Jump for 10 cents. The relation is a little crooked here. Negatively I noticed Lime and VOi here. With the VOi it is the safety aspect, here the two brake levers at the handlebars are missing and he offers only the option to step back on the rear wheel. Not exactly ideal in road traffic. With the Lime there is only one brake lever on the handlebar, but this one doesn’t offer me sufficient safety in combination with the backpedal. In addition, Lime’s pricing policy is aggravating, I have to load a certain balance on the Lime account and so dead capital accumulates in the app.<\/p>\n
With the Pedelecs also eBike’s mentioned, are with so far in Berlin only that of Jump and Lime admits. My favorite is the Red Jump Bike. Why? As with the pedal scooters, the technical details and safety aspects are the same. With the Jump the battery is built into the lower frame bar of the bicycle, which brings the center of gravity well on the road. On the Lime, on the other hand, the battery is located on the rear wheel of the luggage rack, which has a poor centre of gravity. This is very noticeable in curves. Otherwise it’s the same as with the limit pedal scooters, the price policy per credit, which gives me minus points. Here with both offerers 10 cent per minute are estimated, which I personally find fair.<\/p>\n
My three test winners are therefore the electric scooter from Circ, closely followed by the Tier and the eBike from Jump.<\/p>\n
